Building Access


Building and office keys are held by the business area of your department.

Electronic Access

Many of the buildings on campus have electronic access systems in place. To enter these buildings you will require an authorised access card. These cards are issued and updated by ANU Security. However, your request for an access card must be processed by the business area of your department.

The electronic access system installation and maintenance is managed by the Security department on behalf on the University. Requests for expansion additions or modifications to the system in a building shoud be addressed to the Manager, Security and Campus Services,

Requesting New or Modified Access to Buildings

All requests must be submitted in writing or by email to Please include the following information in your request:

  • Name of authorised officer
  • Contact phone number
  • Return email address
  • Name of person requiring access (please include staff number or student ID number)
  • New or modified card
  • Access times required
  • Period of access variation
    • ongoing or,
    • start and end date
  • Buildings and areas of access
    • building name
    • building level (if applicable)
    • doors (accurately defined by name and description )
    • eg. Faculty of Law Building, Ground Level, Room G17, Computer Lab Entrance
The changes are normally activated within 24 hours receipt of the above information.

Problems gaining entry

If you experience any problems gaining access to a building please contact ANU Security Ph 6125 2249. (Please note that before granting access to a building, ANU Security will require proof of identity)
